Star Health and Allied Insurance Company Limited has broken new ground in India's health insurance sector by expanding its Home Health Care (HHC) program to 100 locations across the country. This strategic initiative, launched in July 2023, now reaches over 85% of Star Health Insurance's customer base, offering cashless medical care at the doorstep within three hours of a request, with no out-of-pocket expenses, thereby improving healthcare accessibility.
Anand Roy, the Managing Director and CEO of Star Health Insurance, emphasized the societal impact of the program, stating, "At Star Health, we believe that health insurance transcends mere financial coverage; it is a conduit to accessible and affordable healthcare for every individual." Roy highlighted the company’s vision to overcome barriers such as hefty hospitalization costs and logistical challenges. The program addresses conditions like viral fevers and respiratory infections, with only a small fraction of patients requiring hospitalization.
The expansion of the HHC initiative has been facilitated through partnerships with prominent healthcare providers including Care24, Portea, and Apollo, among others. This collaborative approach aims to maintain high standards of medical care, serving more than 15,000 patients with both home admissions and home-based consultations. Cities like Mumbai, Delhi, and Pune have been key adopters of these services.
