The Mission Steering Group of the National Health Mission has decided to increase incentives for ASHA workers, as Union Health Minister J.P. Nadda informed the Rajya Sabha. This move comes as recognition for their pivotal role in reducing infant and maternal mortality rates across the country.

During a recent meeting, the Mission Steering Group prioritized enhancing the financial remuneration for ASHA workers, responding to demands for better compensation. Minister Nadda emphasized their crucial grassroots efforts in improving national health outcomes, echoing his full support for their contributions.

While addressing concerns of pending dues to Kerala, Nadda stated that all dues have been cleared, pending certification. Meanwhile, Kerala MPs have protested, calling for further increases in honorarium and retirement benefits for ASHA workers, spotlighting the broader issue of social security for these healthcare volunteers.
