Speaking at the convocation ceremony of AIIMS, she called upon medical professionals and researchers to lead initiatives for health improvement.
Murmu underscored the critical role of doctors in alleviating drug addiction through counseling and treatment, suggesting collaboration with social and spiritual organizations to boost public awareness. Additionally, she advocated for immediate actions to counteract obesity, considering its propensity to engender other severe health conditions.
Pointing to the high cancer mortality rate in India, particularly in Punjab's Malwa region, Murmu urged the development of affordable cancer screening technologies. She called for interdisciplinary research efforts to address underlying factors such as pesticide use and urged AIIMS, Bathinda, to become a regional hub of medical excellence.
