A confirmed case of the Nipah virus has put Kerala's Malappuram district on high alert, health officials revealed on Wednesday.
State Health Minister Veena George announced that a woman from Valanchery has tested positive for the virus, following comprehensive tests conducted in Pune.
The patient initially showed fever, cough, and breathing issues, raising suspicions of Nipah, which were later confirmed by lab results. She is now under specialized care in Perinthalmanna.
