Biopharmaceutical giant AstraZeneca announced the expansion of its global hub in Bengaluru with an investment of Rs 166 crore. This expansion is poised to create 400 jobs, with the aim of bolstering the company's Research and Development, global services, and AI innovation initiatives.
The newly expanded facility will accommodate around 1,300 employees, 400 of whom will be new hires. These personnel will support AstraZeneca's capacities in AI-driven innovation across various sectors, including R&D, global business services, IT, and digital health operations, as reported in a company statement.
AstraZeneca's Vice President of Global Business Services, Jackie Crockford, emphasized the strategic importance of the Bengaluru hub, describing it as crucial to the company's goal of delivering 20 new medicines by 2030 through automated, data-driven, and patient-centric approaches. This marks AstraZeneca's second major investment in India in under a year following the expansion of its Global Innovation and Technology Centre in Chennai.
