The suspect, Sheikh Samrat, was taken into custody late Tuesday after being identified through CCTV footage. This brings the total number of arrests in the incident, which occurred at the Uluberia hospital on Monday, to three, including a traffic home guard and a neighbor.

The state health department has called for a detailed report from the hospital as reactions, including from Governor C V Ananda Bose, highlight the gravity of the attack. Bose condemned violence against medical professionals, emphasizing their essential role in society.
