Tension flared at a divisional hospital as the family of a deceased individual claimed his body was gnawed by rats. The incident unfolded on Monday outside the mortuary, spotlighting alleged negligence in corpse handling.
Abhishek Mali, 26, reportedly took his own life on Sunday. After police inquest, his body was stored in the hospital mortuary. However, relatives allege it was not adequately preserved due to a faulty freezer and was kept on ice instead.
Upon attempting to retrieve Mali's body, the family observed several wounds, suspecting rat bites. Hospital officials, including Chief Medical Superintendent Sachin Kishore, promised a thorough investigation. Chief Medical Officer Sunil Singh confirmed the presence of wounds but remained cautious about attributing them to rats pending further inquiry.
