A constable was wounded in Pakistan's Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province during an armed assault on a polio vaccination team. The attack occurred on Samana Road in the Hangu district, resulting in a leg injury for Constable Muhammad Anas. He was subsequently hospitalized, while police quickly detained the suspect involved.

This assault follows a deadly incident two days earlier, where a police constable was killed and four others injured during an attack on another vaccination team in Chapri Waziran. The incidents underscore the security challenges as 50,000 police personnel protect 35,000 vaccination teams in a province-wide anti-polio campaign aimed at immunizing 6.5 million children.

Pakistan, one of the last global bastions of polio alongside Afghanistan, struggles with violence against medical teams, vaccine hesitancy, and misinformation, complicating efforts to eradicate poliovirus. Strengthening safety measures and enhancing public awareness are critical to the success of this life-saving campaign.
