The Maharashtra government has established a State Vaccination Task Force to bolster its immunisation programme, a health department official announced on Monday. This task force, consisting of 29 members, will be led by the administrative head of the health department.
Additionally, district and municipal task forces have been set up to ensure the effective implementation of vaccines and to tackle challenges at the community level. These municipal task forces, headed by civic commissioners, are crucial due to the extensive urban population in Maharashtra, underscoring the role of civic bodies in health initiatives.
The state task force will focus on reviewing vaccine-preventable diseases, assessing high-risk areas, and addressing resource gaps. It aims to facilitate inter-departmental cooperation and ensure the strategic allocation and utilisation of funds for comprehensive child immunisation.
