Ebola Quarantine Leap: U.S. Secures Kenya Base Approval

Kenya has endorsed the U.S.'s efforts to establish a quarantine facility within its borders, specifically aimed at managing Ebola exposure cases involving American citizens. This move primarily addresses the ongoing Ebola crisis emanating from the Democratic Republic of Congo.

The facility is planned for construction at an air force base in Laikipia, central Kenya, where it will be staffed by the U.S. Public Health Service, an extension of the Department of Health and Human Services. Kenyan authorities have yet to confirm if this facility will serve individuals from other nationalities as well.

While Kenya's health ministry has acknowledged discussions with the U.S. and global entities on tackling Ebola, it has yet to formally announce the quarantine facility's development. Meanwhile, Americans infected or exposed to the virus have been receiving treatment overseas.
