Latur police arrested a local resident who was found with an illegal homemade firearm. This arrest emerged from intensified security efforts being executed across the district in anticipation of upcoming festivals, aiming to uphold peace and order.

Govind Ranganath Dure, 28, from Takli village, was taken into custody under charges relating to the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Arms Act. The police, during a combing operation on May 27 for Bakri Eid security, received a tip-off about two individuals on a scooter planning to sell a country-made pistol in the vicinity of New Renapur Naka and the railway station area.

The police are actively searching for two of Dure's associates who evaded arrest, Siddu Mane and Vikas Hinge, as part of their ongoing investigation.
