Nepal's Foreign Secretary Attends 2nd BIMSTEC Ministers' Retreat in India

Nepal's Foreign Secretary Sewa Lamsal arrived in India for the Second BIMSTEC Foreign Ministers' Retreat. She will discuss regional cooperation, meet with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and explore avenues for further partnerships in the Bay of Bengal region. The retreat is scheduled for July 11-12, 2024.

Nepal's Foreign Secretary Sewa Lamsal has arrived in India to participate in the Second BIMSTEC Foreign Ministers' Retreat. According to Nepal's foreign ministry, the event is scheduled to take place in New Delhi from July 11-12, 2024. Lamsal leads a delegation with aims to strengthen regional cooperation within the BIMSTEC framework.

During her visit to Delhi, Lamsal is slated to convene with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi along with the BIMSTEC delegation. This meeting is intended to address mutual interests and develop further partnerships in various sectors including security, connectivity, trade, and investment.

External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar will host the BIMSTEC Foreign Ministers, offering them an informal setting to discuss a wide array of cooperative measures. The MEA emphasized that the retreat provides an excellent platform for expanding inter-regional ties. The first BIMSTEC Foreign Ministers' Retreat took place on July 17, 2023, in Bangkok, Thailand.
