Kharge stated he was 'deeply appalled' by the incident and emphasized that such violence has no place in any democracy.
The shooting, which occurred at Trump's rally, resulted in one fatality and left Trump injured. Taking to 'X', Kharge wrote, 'Deeply appalled by the attack on former US President Donald Trump. I strongly condemn this heinous act.' He also offered condolences to the family of the deceased.
The incident disrupted Trump's rally just months before the 2024 presidential elections. Trump's Secret Service detail swiftly escorted him off stage and later, Trump was seen leaving Butler Memorial Hospital. Additionally, Prime Minister Narendra Modi condemned the attack, expressing concern for Trump and the victims.
