In an unprecedented move, President Joe Biden will address the nation on Wednesday from the White House, marking his first speech since exiting the 2024 election race and endorsing Vice President Kamala Harris as the Democratic Party's nominee. 'I will address the nation from the Oval Office on what lies ahead, and how I will finish the job for the American people,' Biden announced on X.

The address, scheduled for 8 pm ET on July 24, follows Biden's recuperation period at his Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, residence after contracting COVID-19. He returned to the White House on Tuesday.

Initially seeking re-election, Biden dropped out following a debate with Republican candidate Donald Trump on June 27, driven by mounting pressure within the Democratic Party. On July 21, Biden officially announced his withdrawal, endorsing Harris, who is quickly rallying support and appears poised to secure the Democratic nomination.

Harris must still secure the majority of delegates at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago this August. With backing from Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer and House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, her path seems clear.

Axios reports that Harris may select Arizona Senator Mark Kelly or Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro as her running mate. Concurrently, the GOP has intensified its attacks, with Republican Senator Andy Ogles filing impeachment articles against Harris. Ogles accuses Harris of covering up Biden's mental health, alleging a breach of public trust.

'Kamala Devi Harris has knowingly misled the people of the United States and Congress about President Biden's physical and cognitive well-being,' Ogles stated, as reported by The Hill.
