UAE Judo Prepares for Historic Appearance at Paris 2024 Olympics

Dubai [UAE], July 27 (ANI/WAM): Mohammed bin Thaloub Al Darei, President of the UAE Judo Federation, has lauded the significant role played by the National Olympic Committee (NOC) during its current term, under the leadership of H.H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Second Deputy Ruler of Dubai. He expressed optimism for a positive showing at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, which will mark the UAE judo team's fifth consecutive Olympic participation since their debut at the 2008 Beijing Games.

Reflecting on past successes, Al Darei highlighted the 2016 Rio Games as a monumental event in UAE sports history, where judoka Toma claimed a bronze medal in the under-81 kg category, marking the first Olympic medal for UAE judo. This historic win earned Toma a place in the Dubai branch of Madame Tussauds wax museum, further solidifying his legacy.

Looking ahead to Paris 2024, Al Darei emphasized that the UAE judo team's qualification, featuring six athletes who secured their spots through rigorous competitions, is a monumental achievement. The team's goal is to achieve new milestones, driven by strong support from the nation's leadership, and to continue to elevate UAE sports on the global stage.
