Prime Minister Narendra Modi's forthcoming visit to Ukraine, amid the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine, has been warmly received by the Indian diaspora. Members of the community described the visit as historical and pivotal for India-Ukraine relations.

Sanjay Sharma, an Indian residing in Ukraine since 1991, highlighted the potential for strong bilateral trade and India's contribution to re-developing Ukrainian cities using its manpower and technology. "We will consider it our good fortune if we get to meet the PM," he remarked.

Another community member emphasized the significance of the visit, calling it a crucial moment for India's global image and a possible precursor to peace talks. "The world has to understand that peace is very important," he stated.

PM Modi arrived in Poland on Wednesday, marking the first visit by an Indian leader to the Central European country in 45 years. Addressing the Indian community in Warsaw, he announced a new social security agreement between India and Poland, benefiting the diaspora. He lauded the Indian community for their assistance to Indian students stuck in Ukraine during the 2022 conflict and thanked the Polish government for easing visa restrictions.

Expressing gratitude for the warm welcome in Poland, Modi acknowledged the diverse yet united Indian community. "You have given me such a wonderful welcome, and I am very grateful to all of you and the people of Poland," he said.
