In a devastating turn of events, 36 people lost their lives in two separate bus accidents in Pakistan, as reported by Al Jazeera citing local authorities. The first accident on the Makran Coastal Highway in southwestern Balochistan claimed 12 lives, according to Pakistan's Interior Ministry.
The second tragedy unfolded when a bus plunged into a ravine near Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir, killing 24 individuals. Initial reports suggested seven injuries, but later confirmations indicated that all aboard had perished, officials said.
Pakistan's President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed their condolences. Road accidents are a frequent issue in Pakistan, often attributed to insufficient infrastructure, poorly maintained vehicles, and reckless driving, with over 5,000 deaths annually, according to Al Jazeera.
