Indian High Commissioner Highlights Deep Bilateral Ties and Indian Diaspora in Brunei

Indian High Commissioner to Brunei, Alok Amitabh Dimri, on Monday underscored the strong and friendly relations between India and Brunei, noting that bilateral exchanges have been substantial. Dimri emphasized the entrenched presence of the Indian diaspora in Brunei, despite the nation's modest size and economic scope. He detailed the diverse Indian communities present, including Tamilians, Malyalis, Sindhis, Punjabis, Marathas, and Gujaratis.
Speaking to ANI, Dimri remarked, 'Our exchanges have been deep. Despite the small economy and geography, the Indian diaspora has deeply rooted itself here. Indians have made significant inroads.' He also praised Brunei's unique demographic and geographic aspects but stressed the important contributions of the Indian community.
Highlighting the upcoming visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Dimri revealed that the visit includes key meetings, a joint statement, and the signing of several MoUs. Modi's visit, coinciding with the 40th anniversary of diplomatic ties, is significant as it is the first bilateral visit by an Indian Prime Minister to Brunei. Dimri also commended Brunei's dedication to ecological preservation and its contribution to regional peace and moderation.
