In a rare public sermon, Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei defended Iran's missile attacks on Israel, declaring them 'legal and legitimate.' Addressing the congregation at Imam Khomeini's Grand Mosalla in Tehran, Khamenei described the strikes as the 'least punishment' for Israeli actions, urging for Muslim unity.
Khamenei reiterated unwavering support for anti-Israeli groups, namely Hamas and Hezbollah, labeling this as an Islamic duty. He issued potential threats of direct missile attacks from Iranian soil, stressing that actions are dictated by strategic decision-makers when necessary, as reported by IRNA.
The Supreme Leader called for Muslim solidarity against divisive tactics by adversaries, emphasizing defense readiness across Islamic nations. Acknowledging recent tensions, Khamenei justified the recent Al-Aqsa Storm Operation and missile launches at Israeli targets, as consequences of actions against key leaders of Hezbollah and Hamas. The global response, including promises of retaliation from Israel and firm support from the U.S., underscores escalating stakes.
