Pakistan's Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb is set to arrive in Washington DC this Sunday to participate in the pivotal annual meetings of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank Group, as reported by Dawn. Scheduled from October 21 to 26, these meetings will see main ministerial discussions from October 22 to 25.
Aurangzeb will lead a high-profile delegation, including the finance secretary and top financial sector officials, engaging in strategic dialogues with IMF and World Bank executives throughout the week-long visit. The Pakistani delegation is poised to attend vital sessions of the gathering while navigating crucial discussions.
On the meeting sidelines, Pakistan plans substantial bilateral discussions with countries such as China, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey, alongside US Treasury officials. This year's meetings are critical, particularly after the approval of a $7 billion loan aimed at economic stabilization. Aurangzeb insists on profound economic reforms to cease dependency on IMF programmes.
