Flu sidelines Irving for Celtics-Cavaliers contest

Boston Celtics guard Kyrie Irving has flu-like symptoms and will not play in Wednesday night's home game against the Cleveland Cavaliers, the team announced. Irving played his first six NBA seasons with the Cavaliers after Cleveland made him the No. 1 overall pick in the 2011 NBA Draft.

In his second season with Boston, Irving has played in 42 games and leads the Celtics in scoring (23.5) and assists (6.9) and is second on the team in steals (72). In Boston's first meeting with Cleveland this season, Irving scored a game-high 29 points on 11-of-15 shooting as the Celtics rolled to a 128-95 victory at TD Garden on Nov. 30.

Backup point guard Terry Rozier will likely start in Irving's place on Wednesday night. --Field Level Media
