Knicks PG Mudiay sidelined with shoulder injury

New York Knicks point guard Emmanuel Mudiay will miss at least two weeks with a left shoulder strain, coach David Fizdale told reporters on Friday. Meeting with reporters prior to Friday's contest against the Brooklyn Nets, Fizdale said Mudiay will be re-evaluated in two weeks.

Mudiay was injured during Wednesday's 114-110 loss to the Houston Rockets. "It's unfortunate," Fizdale told reporters. "I thought he was playing good basketball over the course of this year.

"I think it will be a minor setback and gives us time to push him from a conditioning standpoint, and hopefully he can come back and hit the ground running." Fizdale said that Trey Burke, who is averaging 11.1 points, will pick up some of Mudiay's minutes.

The 22-year-old Mudiay is averaging a career-high 14.7 points in 39 appearances (32 starts) this season. He also is shooting a career-best 45.3 percent from the field. Mudiay also averages 3.9 assists and 3.1 rebounds.
