External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar commended the enduring partnership between India and the United States, emphasizing its consistent positivity over the last quarter-century. Speaking in a Newsweek interview during his US visit, Jaishankar noted that under the past five American presidents, India-US relations have advanced steadily, thanks to critical factors like economics and technology.
Jaishankar expressed optimism regarding the finalization of a pivotal trade agreement, currently being negotiated at the White House. He acknowledged that while negotiations are intricate, involving significant 'give and take', both sides are expected to reach a beneficial conclusion. Nevertheless, he admitted that diplomacy involves a degree of unpredictability owing to differing viewpoints.
The Minister also highlighted India's participation in the upcoming Quad Foreign Ministers' Meeting. Backed by a robust history of cooperation, both nations are eager to address key regional and global issues, particularly within the Indo-Pacific arena. Jaishankar reiterated his hopes for progress in trade and diplomacy, underscoring the relationship's growing strength.
