Report: LeBron targeting Thursday for return
LeBron James could be back on the court for the Los Angeles Lakers as soon as Thursday, the Los Angeles Times reported Monday. James, recovering from a groin injury suffered on Christmas Day, wants to participate in a few more practices before playing in a game, according to Times' sources. That would put the superstar out of Tuesday's home game against the Philadelphia 76ers, with an eye toward Thursday's game at the Los Angeles Clippers.
The Lakers were scheduled to practice late Monday and Wednesday. James participated in full-contact defensive drills for the first time in a month on Saturday
"He was a full participant in that, so it was good to see," coach Luke Walton told reporters. "He looked good. He's still really good at basketball, in case you guys were wondering." James has missed 16 consecutive games, with the Lakers going 6-10 in those games. He is averaging 27.3 points, 8.3 rebounds and 7.1 assists in 34 games in his first season with the team.
The Lakers (26-24) enter the week two games behind the Clippers for the final playoff spot in the Western Conference. --Field Level Media
