Public concerns are mounting across Italy as a series of botulism outbreaks have led to four fatalities, including a 62-year-old woman in Sardinia. This rise in cases has sparked an urgent inquiry into contaminated food sources and prompted nationwide fear, Euro News reports.

The latest victim, Valeria Sollai, died after consuming a guacamole dish linked to the Fiesta Latina event in Monserrato. Similarly, these contaminants previously claimed the life of 36-year-old Roberta Pitzalis. Meanwhile, a young girl remains hospitalized in Cagliari, and ten people, including a street vendor and healthcare professionals, are under investigation for culpable homicide and related charges.

As the death toll increases, experts stress the importance of preventive measures in food preservation, highlighting the Italian canning tradition as a potential risk factor. With Italy recording the highest number of botulism cases in Europe, public health officials are calling for heightened awareness and strict safety protocols to prevent further tragedies.
