India and Mauritius Reinforce Ties Amid High-Level Meetings

In a series of significant diplomatic engagements, Chairperson of the Congress Parliamentary Party, Sonia Gandhi, and senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi hosted the Prime Minister of Mauritius, Navinchandra Ramgoolam, in the national capital. This meeting, part of Ramgoolam's official visit, underscored the robust ties between India and Mauritius.
"I had the pleasure of calling on Prime Minister Ramgoolam alongside CPP Chairperson Smt. Sonia Gandhi. We discussed the deep and enduring friendship that binds our two nations and peoples," Rahul Gandhi shared via social media. The Mauritian leader, in India from September 9 to 16, engaged in various political, cultural, and spiritual activities.
President Droupadi Murmu also met with PM Ramgoolam at Rashtrapati Bhavan, where the unique and enduring ties between New Delhi and Port Louis were reemphasized. The leaders highlighted their shared history, language, culture, and values. President Murmu expressed confidence in Ramgoolam's experience to further strengthen bilateral relationships.
Paying homage to Mahatma Gandhi at Rajghat, PM Ramgoolam concluded his visit to the capital. Earlier, he had visited significant sites, including Tirumala Temple and Bramarishi Ashram in Tirupati, where he was welcomed by spiritual leader Siddhguru Sideswar Bramedswi Gurudev Swami.
During his visit, Ramgoolam also met with Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri in Varanasi and later held crucial talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The discussions resulted in multiple agreements and a comprehensive Special Economic Package worth over USD 680 million, strengthening strategic and developmental partnerships.
The itinerary also included a visit to the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Temple in Ayodhya, reflecting the cross-cultural connections being celebrated and fostered throughout his visit. (ANI)
