The Lahore High Court has breathed new life into a writ petition originally filed by incarcerated PTI chairman Imran Khan. This petition, which concerns the unification of numerous cases against him, was previously dismissed for lack of prosecution. Chief Justice Aalia Neelum has accepted a request to restore the petition, setting the stage for a hearing on Tuesday.

During a prior session, legal representation revealed that 107 cases connected to May 9 unrest remain active against Khan. The PTI founder, before his conviction in the Toshakhana reference in 2023, argued the cases and their First Information Reports (FIRs) were politically charged, often repeating accusations across different districts in Punjab.

The petition highlighted the logistical impossibility of attending hearings in several districts concurrently and called for a consolidation to ensure fair access to justice. While this develops, the Islamabad High Court has reiterated its instructions for Khan's jail visits, emphasizing adherence to established schedules and security protocols, with recent directives issued by a three-member bench.
