France plans to move a proposal in "a couple of days" at the United Nations to put Pakistan's Jaish-e-Mohammed chief Masood Azhar on the global terrorist list, sources in French told news agency PTI on Tuesday.
Earlier moves to designate Azhar a global terrorist have consistently been blocked by Pakistan's close ally China, a permanent member of the United Nations Security Council, on many occasions at the UN.
If Azhar is listed as a terrorist by the UN Security Council, he would face a global travel ban and assets freeze.
Over 40 CRPF jawans were killed on Thursday when a suicide bomber rammed a vehicle carrying over 100 kg of explosives into a bus carrying jawans in Jammu and Kashmir's Pulwama district. The Pakistan-based terrorist organisation had taken responsibility for the terror attack.
