TIPA Stages Cultural Protest Against China's Tibetan Policies in Prague
The Tibetan Institute of Performing Arts wrapped up a major cultural program in Prague, spotlighting concerns over Chinese policies in Tibet. TIPA's events showcased Tibetan music, opera, and dance, standing as a peaceful protest against cultural erasure. The event also marked Czech support for Tibetan freedoms and identity.
The Tibetan Institute of Performing Arts (TIPA) has accused China of cultural erasure, culminating a landmark program in the Czech Republic. This cultural display, featuring Tibetan music and opera, took place in the Senate Garden, Prague, aiming to raise awareness about Beijing's policies in Tibet.
According to TIPA, the event defied China's claim of Tibetan culture being a mere branch of Chinese civilisation. Through performances of classical Tibetan opera Ache Lhamo and traditional dances, it illustrated Tibet as a unique civilization. Representative Thinlay Chukki emphasized it as a symbol of solidarity during these challenging times under Chinese influence.
The Czech Republic has been a steadfast ally to Tibet's cause. The event in Prague witnessed strong support, with former and current Czech leaders showing solidarity with Tibetan leaders like the Dalai Lama. This aligns with the Czech Senate's recent resolution supporting Tibetan religious freedom.
