Israel's Largest Marine Defence Project Unveiled: Transforming Netanya's Coastline
Israel has completed its largest marine defence project, investing 190 million Shekels to construct 12 breakwaters in Netanya. This initiative not only protects cliffside infrastructure but also reclaims 3.5 km of beach for public access, demonstrating the success of comprehensive environmental planning.
Israel marked the completion of its largest marine defense initiative, which involved the construction of 12 breakwaters along Netanya's coastal cliffs. The ambitious project, steered by the Ministry of Environmental Protection and executed by the Government Company for the Protection of Mediterranean Coastal Cliffs, saw an investment of 190 million Shekels or $66 million.
The successful completion of the project will soon provide the public access to approximately 3.5 km of expanded cliff beach. This extensive undertaking highlights the dual importance of safeguarding the lives of residents and critical infrastructure while making previously unusable beaches accessible to the public.
This development not only offers a new recreational space but also serves as a testament to effective long-term planning. It illustrates the harmonious balance between preserving essential infrastructure and making natural resources available for public enjoyment.
