The Lufthansa Group has expressed support for the German government's decision to abolish airport transit visa requirements for Indian nationals traveling to third countries via German airports, effective June 3, 2026. This policy change, declared by the German Embassy in New Delhi, is set to simplify journeys through key German hubs.
Lufthansa, which operates over 70 weekly flights between India and Europe, has a longstanding presence in the Indian market, spanning more than six decades. Celebrating its 100th anniversary, the Group is enhancing its commitment to India by investing in network expansion and introducing advanced services.
Plans include deploying the acclaimed Allegris cabins on Boeing 787-9 flights from Delhi and Hyderabad, launching SWISS's direct service between Bengaluru and Zurich in winter 2026, and implementing FOX, a premium upgrade that focuses on passenger comfort and individuality. The effort aims to improve connectivity and solidify Germany's position as a primary gateway linking India, Europe, and the world.
