In a response to escalating security concerns gripping Pakistan's Balochistan province, local traders, transporters, and business figures have forged a united front. According to Dawn, these stakeholders are grappling with a surge in attacks on cargo vehicles and associated trade disruptions. They have collectively formed a joint committee aiming to pressure the government for swift action.

The resolution emerged from a consultative meeting helmed by Haji Muhammad Ayub Mariani, President of the Quetta Chamber of Commerce and Industry (QCCI). This assembly included representatives from diverse trade bodies, transporters, and mine owners, all of whom reached a consensus on addressing the formidable challenges threatening commerce in the province. Key complaints include road blockades and the torching of goods trucks, resulting in substantial financial setbacks and halted business activities.

Mariani reported engaging directly with the country's prime minister, articulating the business community's distress over shuttered trade routes and threats to transport security. Reassurances have been provided, with expectations of a high-level delegation visiting Balochistan to address these concerns. Mariani underscored the urgency of restoring highway accessibility to rejuvenate trade flows, warning that continued inaction might spur collective protest efforts.
