More than 300 members from the AIADMK party officially joined Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) on Saturday, citing discontent with their former leadership's inability to effectively serve the public. The mass induction, taking place at the party headquarters in Panaiyur, near Chennai, included notable figures such as former Ministers Vellamandi Natarajan and Anandan, as well as former MLA Natraj.

The event, attended by TVK General Secretary and Tamil Nadu Rural Development Minister N Anand, along with Revenue Minister Sengottaiyan and Public Works Minister Aadhav Arjuna, marks a significant shift in Tamil Nadu's political landscape. Leaders like Udumalai Radhakrishnan cited the inability to maintain the discipline once seen under former Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa's era as a key reason for their departure.

The defectors praised the leadership of current Chief Minister Joseph Vijay, likening it to the values of political stalwarts M G Ramachandran and Jayalalithaa. Promising a focus on youth and local body elections, they pledge to foster a corruption-free environment under TVK, an endeavor described by Public Works Minister Arjuna as returning to an era of integrity.
