Zaporizhzhia Power Line Restored Amid Ceasefire

The Russian-controlled Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant in Ukraine restored its Ferrosplavnaya-1 power line following a temporary ceasefire brokered by the IAEA. A drone attack violated the ceasefire, resulting in injuries and accusations between Russia and Ukraine. The plant requires external power despite not generating energy.

Russian-installed management at Ukraine's Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant confirmed on Saturday that the Ferrosplavnaya-1 power line, crucial for the plant's electricity supply, has been restored.

This development follows a temporary local ceasefire, arranged by the U.N.'s nuclear watchdog, the IAEA, to facilitate repairs. However, Rosatom accused Ukraine of breaching the ceasefire through a drone attack injuring three people.

The Zaporizhzhia facility, the largest in Europe with six reactors, remains a focal point in the ongoing conflict as each party claims the other is endangering nuclear safety. The plant itself generates no electricity but requires external power to prevent nuclear fuel overheating.
