All 24 Indian Crew Safe After Fire Incident on MT Marivex Near Strait of Hormuz

The Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways reported a fire aboard the MT Marivex with 24 Indian crew members near the Strait of Hormuz. All are safe, and the Ministry is coordinating with national and international bodies for their safety. The vessel was in ballast and not carrying cargo.

A fire incident has been reported aboard the MT Marivex, a vessel carrying 24 Indian seafarers, situated south of the Strait of Hormuz, as confirmed by the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways. Officials ensured that all crew members were unharmed following these recent developments.

Director of the Shipping Division, Opesh Kumar Sharma, disclosed during a briefing that the blaze was detected at approximately 1:30 pm. Efforts are underway by the Ministry, in collaboration with external and naval departments, to safeguard the seamen's welfare.

Although preliminary data is being gathered, it's clear that the vessel, empty at the time, was not hit by any projectiles. The control room has handled numerous inquiries and assured that port operations within India remain unaffected.
