Exercise Pitch Black: Aerial Spectacle in the Top End Strengthens Global Ties

Exercise Pitch Black is set to return to the Top End from July 20 to August 7, bringing over 100 aircraft and personnel from 19 allied and partner nations. Aimed at strengthening regional and global interoperability, this Royal Australian Air Force event will unfold over three weeks in one of the world's largest military training areas, featuring intricate and combat-like scenarios.

The Northern Territory community can look forward to two key public events. The Mindil Beach Flying Display, scheduled for Thursday, July 23, and the RAAF Darwin Open Day on Saturday, August 1, will offer locals and visitors a chance to see participating aircraft in action and interact with military personnel from countries including Brunei, Canada, and the United States, among others.

Air Commodore Micka Gray, Head of Air Shows for the Royal Australian Air Force, emphasized the significance of these events in showcasing military equipment and expressing gratitude to the community. Meanwhile, Exercise Commander Air Commodore Matt McCormack highlighted the exercise's role in enhancing readiness and security through joint air combat training.
