In a spectacle blending sport and politics, US President Donald Trump marked the nation’s 250th anniversary by hosting a UFC fight night on the White House grounds, coinciding with his 80th birthday. Key members of his administration and enthusiastic supporters gathered at the event, though it also drew ire from critics, with protests occurring outside.

At the event, First Lady Melania Trump was seated alongside the President, with their son, Barron, just behind. Other attendees included Donald Trump Jr. with wife Bettina, Eric Trump with Lara Trump, Ivanka Trump with Jared Kushner, and Tiffany Trump with Michael Boulos, along with several Trump grandchildren watching the matches from ringside.

A gesture of support came after the third fight concluded, with some in attendance singing 'Happy Birthday' to Trump. Concurrently, the Trump family promoted a venture involving the sale of 'Freedom 250'-themed silver and gold medallions featuring Trump’s likeness. These so-called 'Trump Coins' are marketed as a partnership between the UFC and the Trump Organization, run by Trump’s sons and priced up to nearly $12,000.

The silver and gold medallions, promoted online as designed by Trump, are showcased in denominations ranging from modestly priced silver editions to expensive gold collectibles. Notably, these coins are strictly licensing ventures, with the Trump Organization neither involved in manufacturing nor direct selling.

Following the festivities, President Trump is scheduled to travel to France, where he will participate in the G7 Summit at the alpine resort town Evian. The summit will convene global leaders to deliberate on pressing geopolitical issues.
