Avalanche acquire F Brassard from Panthers
Prior to Colorado's Monday night contest against Florida, the Avalanche acquired forward Derick Brassard from the visiting Panthers. The Avalanche sent a third-round pick in 2020 to the Panthers. Colorado also receives a conditional 2020 sixth-round selection, but reportedly will not keep the pick if the pending free agent Brassard re-signs with the Avalanche.
Brassard, 31, joins his third team this season and his sixth in the past six years. He began 2018-19 with the Pittsburgh Penguins, tallying nine goals and six assists in 40 games before being traded to Florida on Feb. 1. He had one goal and three assists in 10 games with the Panthers.
Brassard has scored 447 points in 766 games in 12 seasons with the Columbus Blue Jackets, New York Rangers, Ottawa Senators, Penguins and Panthers. He tallied a career-high 27 goals in 2015-16 and scored a career-high 60 points in 2014-15, both with the Rangers.
