Kazakhstan's president proposes top advisor as vice-president

​Kazakhstan's President Kassym-Jomart ‌Tokayev on ​Monday proposed ‌to appoint Erlan Karin, a longtime advisor, as ‌vice president, an office ‌created under a new constitution adopted earlier ⁠this ​year. He ⁠also proposed to reappoint ⁠Olzhas Bektenov as ​the country's prime minister.

Both appointments ⁠must be approved ⁠by ​the country's parliament, which is dominated ⁠by the pro-Tokayev Adilet ⁠party.
