Magnitude 4.9 earthquake strikes near Chile's capital Santiago, EMSC says

​An ‌earthquake of ​magnitude 4.8 ‌struck on Friday Chile's Metropolitan ‌Region, home to capital ‌city Santiago, the European-Mediterranean ⁠Seismological Centre (EMSC) ​said.

The ⁠quake, which hit ⁠at a ​depth of 98 ⁠km (60.89 miles), was downgraded ⁠from ​an initial 5.0 ⁠magnitude, according to ⁠EMSC.
