‌Evonik and BASF ​are in contact ‌over a potential merger deal, a source ‌familiar with the ‌matter told Reuters on Friday.

The Financial Times ⁠reported ​earlier ⁠that BASF had approached rival ⁠Evonik and its ​largest shareholder, the ⁠RAG Foundation, with a proposal ⁠for ​a merger, sending Evonik ⁠shares to a three-month ⁠high.
