Bruins' Johansson hospitalized due to on-ground accident

The Boston Bruins used a body double for newly acquired winger Marcus Johansson for Wednesday's official team photo, according to the Boston Herald. That's because Johansson was still hospitalized after taking a vicious shoulder-to-shoulder hit from Carolina Hurricanes forward Micheal Ferland on Tuesday night.

"He's still in the hospital finishing up tests," Bruins coach Bruce Cassidy said Wednesday morning. "The team will have an announcement later on, but I haven't heard anything. Sometimes no news is good news, but we will get it to you later." The Bruins used a substitute wearing Johansson's No. 90 jersey for the photo.

The injury occurred at 3:15 of the first period during the Bruins' 4-3 overtime win in Boston. Johansson was knocked to the ice by the legal hit and did not return. Johansson, 28, was acquired from the New Jersey Devils for a 2019 second-round draft pick and a 2020 fourth-round pick at the Feb. 25 trade deadline.

He has one assist in four games with Boston after tallying 12 goals and 15 assists in 48 games with New Jersey this season.
