CEU reconsiders decision to leave Hungary but seeks reassurances

The Hungary-based Central European University said on Thursday it would only cancel its planned move to Vienna if Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban committed to a legally binding authorisation for all CEU operations in Budapest.

CEU, which was forced to begin moving some of its operations to Vienna last year, said it appreciated efforts by a leading European conservative, Manfred Weber of Germany, to try and help the school but it wanted legal assurances that it would still be able to issue American diplomas.
