Thunder rookie Diallo has elbow surgery

Oklahoma City rookie Hamidou Diallo had successful arthroscopic surgery on his right elbow Wednesday, Thunder executive vice president and general manager Sam Presti announced. The 20-year-old guard appeared in 51 games during the regular season and averaged 3.7 points and 1.9 rebounds in 10.3 minutes. He won the Slam Dunk Contest during 2019 NBA All-Star Weekend.

The procedure was performed by Dr. David Altchek at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City. Diallo is expected to return to basketball activities in approximately four weeks. Diallo was a second-round pick (45th overall) in the 2018 NBA Draft after one season at Kentucky.

He also played in six games in the G League in 2018-19, averaging 19.2 points and 7.3 rebounds per game. --Field Level Media
