Germany wants to develop its trade ties with U.S., Merkel says

Germany wants to develop its trading relationship with the United States rather than simply avoid increased tariffs, Chancellor Angela Merkel said on Wednesday.

"We want to avoid the U.S. imposing further or new tariffs, and also to develop our trade relations advantageously overall," Merkel said in a speech to a maritime conference.
