Wild acquire rights to Gordeev from Leafs

The Minnesota Wild acquired the rights to defenseman Fedor Gordeev from the Toronto Maple Leafs on Thursday in exchange for a conditional seventh-round selection in the 2020 NHL Entry Draft. The trade is conditional on Gordeev, 20, signing a contract with the Wild prior to Saturday. The Omsk, Russia, native had a combined seven goals and 25 assists in the Ontario Hockey League this season for the Flint Firebirds and the Guelph Storm.

The 6-foot-7, 224-pounder had two goals and an assist in the OHL playoffs for Guelph. In four seasons in the OHL, the former fifth-round selection by the Maple Leafs in 2017 has produced 19 goals, 54 assists and 232 penalty minutes.
