Stanley Cup: Ryan, Brayden score for Blues to claim win over Bruins in Game 4

Ryan O'Reilly's winning goal mirrored his team Monday night: It came on the rebound. The Blues centre scored his second marker of the game at 10:38 of the third period, lifting St. Louis to a 4-2 win over the Boston Bruins in Game 4 of the Stanley Cup Final and tying the best-of-seven series at two games each.

Off a quick transition, Alex Pietrangelo whipped a shot that Bruins goalie Tuukka Rask stopped. However, O'Reilly got to the rebound and fired it home for his fifth goal of the playoffs. Brayden Schenn scored into an empty net at 18:31 to seal the outcome. Game 5 is Thursday night in Boston, with the winner getting a chance to lift the Cup on Sunday night in St. Louis.

Needing a quick start, St. Louis got it. O'Reilly won a loose puck from Danton Heinen behind the net and beat Rask with a wraparound at the right post for a 1-0 Blues lead 43 seconds into the game. As the Bruins did Saturday en route to a 7-2 victory in Game 3, they bounced back after St. Louis controlled the first 10 minutes. The Bruins evened matters at 13:14 of the opening period, when Charlie Coyle jumped on the rebound of a Zdeno Chara, shot and bagged his ninth goal of the playoffs from the slot.

Unlike Game 3, when the Blues folded at every sign of adversity, they responded quickly. Vladimir Tarasenko pounced on the rebound of a Pietrangelo shot and notched his 11th playoff goal at 15:30 of the first. Boston equalized for the second time at 14:19 of the second period, just 26 seconds into a St. Louis power play. Defenseman Brandon Carlo picked up the rebound of a Patrice Bergeron wrist shot and flicked a wrister off the tip of Jordan Binnington's glove for his first playoff goal.

But the Blues at least kept the Bruins from getting going on the power play. After going 4-for-4 on four shots Saturday night, Boston whiffed on its only two man-advantage chances in this one. Rask made 34 saves on 37 shots. Binnington came up with 21 saves on 23 shots after getting pulled from Game 3 when he yielded five goals in less than two periods.
