EU open to fresh analysis with new data to resolve differences on Italy's debt

EU economics commissioner Pierre Moscovici said on Wednesday the bloc's executive was ready to change its analysis on a possible procedure over Italy's debt if new data and commitments from Rome emerged.

"As always with all member states, we are ready to look at new data that could change this analysis," Moscovici told a news conference after the European Commission said a procedure against Italy was warranted by its growing debt. "My door is open," he said, adding that it was up to Italy to show ways to avoid the procedure.
