Odisha BJP Mahila Morcha flays BJD for 'anti-women attitude'
The Morcha on Sunday passed 12 resolutions in which it held the BJD responsible for the ''sorry state'' of women in the state.
''We condemn the state government for not bringing about any visible change in the status of women in the state.
The funds allocated by the Centre under different women welfare schemes are being misappropriated,'' it alleged.
Women are unable to get benefits under the 'Swachha Bharat' programme, too, due to ''irregularities'' in its implementation, the resolution said, demanding speedy completion of toilet construction works.
The Morcha criticised the 'Mission Shakti' programme and said self-help groups are in a ''debt trap'' as women are yet to get social and economic independence.
''As many as 6,579 minor girls remain missing since four years. We demand their immediate return,'' the resolution said, adding, a large number of women faced exploitation during the Covid-induced lockdowns.
It also that the State Comission for Women has become defunct in the wake of COVID-19.
