Police arrests accused in Gumla district rape case

The accused, who had raped and killed a minor girl in a village in Gumla district, was arrested Tuesday, the police said here.

Three teams were set up to nab the 20-year-old youth, Bandhan Oraon, who was arrested during the day, sub-divisional police officer Deepak Kumar said.

He said that the police have registered cases under IPC 376 and 302 and POCSO Act with the Puso police station.

Gumla Superintendent of Police Anusham Kumar had Monday said that Oraon raped and killed the girl aged between three years and four years on Sunday night at his home. He took her on the pretext of giving chocolate before perpetrating the heinous crime, he said.

The accused is a neighbor of the child.
